Calling all budding authors, poets, and storytellers in your classes!
Writing competitions are a great way to motivate students to write.
They give students a real world context for writing and also give students the chance to earn prizes.
Participating in writing contests can significantly contribute to the growth of middle school scholars (5th thru 8th grade may apply) by fostering their creativity and self-assurance.
Through the process of conceptualizing and articulating their thoughts on various topics, students are encouraged to think outside the box, explore diverse perspectives, and develop their unique voice as writers.
This experience is invaluable in nurturing their writing abilities and enhancing their overall academic performance.
Why would they encourage other families to do so? What would it mean to them if they could adopt a dog?
They should write a 250-word letter (approximately 2 typed pages) explaining the issue, why it matters, and urge others to make the same decision.
Be sure to include your name, your pets name and a photo with your submission.
All essays will be on display at the Furry Friends Fashion Show (tentatively August 17th at the Hamilton Rod & Gun Club in Sturbridge)

Beyond the prizes! First place will receive a $100 scholarship from Threads Boutique, 2nd place will receive a $50 gift card to Petco for your furry friend.
The overall winner will have an option to be spotlighted at the event with their rescue.
